A book exploring contemporary life for Vietnamese people of all ages and occupations was released in Singapore on October 19.
Titled “It’s a Living: Work and Life in Vietnam Today”, the book includes 67 interviews conducted by Associate Professor Gerald Sasges - from the Department of Southeast Asian Studies at the National University of Singapore - and his students. It engages a broad range of Vietnamese, living in both Vietnam and abroad, on their feelings about work, life and getting ahead.
The book also introduces 59 illustrative photos taken by Mai Huyen Chi, which were on display at the IPA Photo Books Show 2013 on October 19-20.
The authors expect that the book will provide readers with a deeper knowledge of modern life in Vietnam, where ordinary people are trying their best to make a better life for themselves. It will also show how Vietnam is developing in socio-economic and cultural fields.
