The southernmost province of Ca Mau has set a target of earning over 1.1 billion USD from exporting aquatic products in 2014, a year-on-year increase of 10 percent.
Local authorities expect aquaculture will be a spearhead sector in the province’s economic development and said they will work out a series of measures to achieve the goal, prioritising the export of aquatic products, said Ly Van Thuan General Director of the provincial Seafood Processors’ Association.
The province will improve aquaculture and catching to ensure a supply of 250,000 tonnes of material shrimp a year, meeting 50 percent of processing demand.
It plans to expand export markets via trade promotion activities, focusing on major markets such as the US, the EU, ASEAN, Japan and China.
The province will also actively join international economic integration by participating in regional and international fairs to boost exports while enhancing cooperation with other localities and foreign partners.
It will also create favourable conditions for businesses, reduce costs and raise employee salaries.-VNA
