Cambodia has been appreciated for managing tuberculosis (TB) infections and reducing the death toll from the disease, according to the 2013 UN report on TB prevention.
The country has worked significantly to reduce its infection rate from 150 per 100,000 people in 1990 to 92 per 100,000 people in 2011. As much as 85 percent of the infected have been treated.
An expert from the Ministry of Health said his country is cooperating with international health organisations in a bid to rapidly reduce the percentage of people infected with and died by the disease by 5 percent per year during the 2016-2020 period.-VNA
