Cambodia and the US on April 21 started a 10-day military exercise to promote regional peace and security and strengthen their military ties.
The annual drill, dubbed "Angkor Sentinel 2014", took place at the Training Centre for Multinational Peacekeeping Forces, about 70 km west of the capital Phnom Penh, according to a statement by the US embassy in Cambodia.
Lieut. Gen. Hun Manet, deputy commander of the Cambodian Army, said the exercise will enable the two armies to share tactics, techniques and expertise.
With over 370 Cambodian soldiers and 100 US counterparts taking part, the drill will focus on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to prepare Cambodian troops for the UN peacekeeping missions.
The first drill of this kind was held in 2010. Last year, it gathered 310 Cambodian and US soldiers.-VNA
