On January 3, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen called for both Cambodian and Thai authorities and people along the border to work together in building a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.

Authorities of all levels on both sides of the border should develop good relations in accordance with either Government’s policies, said Hun Sen in Pailin province, which borders Thailand's Chanthaburi province.

He said he hopes to see people alongside the border live in peace without fear of violence.

The PM also urged local governors and armed forces from provinces either side of the border to act cordially to one another, creating a border of peace and cooperation.

Cambodia and Thailand share 805 kilometres of border.

In recent years, there has been tension between the two neighbours over a territorial dispute of Preah Vihear temple after UNESCO listed it as a World Heritage Site on July 7, 2008./.VNA
