Cambodia’s Defence Ministry has vowed to protect the Constitution and Royal government.

Defence Minister General Tea Banh said that the opposition Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP) was forcing the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) to follow its wishes.

The Minister made the statement at a meeting to review 2013’s achievements of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces on January 22 in Phnom Penh.

He added the opposition party’s wishes would lead to racism, and the military could not allow it to continue.

In addition, Tea Banh directed the military to continue to promote its 2013 achievements in socio-security and protect people.

Earlier this year, the Cambodia Defence Ministry issued a statement, saying that it will protect the Constitution and Cambodian government after opposition forces held demonstrations to ask a change in the election results of the fifth National Assembly and threaten to isolate Phnom Penh by protests.-VNA
