Cambodia will increase cooperation with Laos in many fields to promote bilateral cooperation, said a top Cambodia legislator.
President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, Heng Somrin made the statement during the talks with his Lao counterpart, Pany Yathotou in Vientiane on September 13.
Heng Somrin, who is on an official friendly visit to Laos from September 13-15, congratulated Laos on the country’s achievements in recent year. He said he wishes Laos will successfully organise the 35 th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).
Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly Pany Yathotou welcomed Heng Somrin’s visit and congratulated him on his election as President of the Cambodian National Assembly.
During their talks, the two sides informed each other of their respective country’s socio-economic development and legislative bodies’ operation.
They expressed their pleasure at growing development in cooperation between the two countries and the two national assemblies.
They also discussed orientation and measures to boost cooperation and relations in the coming time.
During his stay, Heng Samrin is scheduled to meet Lao President Choummaly Sayasone and Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong, and visit several economic and cultural establishment in the capital city of Vientiane.-VNA
