The Pre-Trial Chamber of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) on April 30 dismissed appeals for bail by three former Khmer Rouge leaders.
The charged persons are Ieng Sary, Khieu Samphan and Ieng Thirith.
In their decision dismissing the Appeal, the charged persons will be held in provisional detention until mid-October or early November this year, as the UN-backed tribunal opens arguments on their crimes during the Khmer Rouge regime from 1975 to 1979.
The tribunal also said that co-investigating judges will try to complete the arguments by late September.
The ECCC completed final arguments on Duch (or Kaing Guek Eav), former chief of the Tuol Sleng prison, and his verdict from the tribunal is expected late this month or early next month./.
