Cao Bang: Old tree given national heritage status

A 300-year-old dracontomelum tree at the Special National Relic of Tran Hung Dao Forest in Tam Kim commune, Nguyen Binh district, the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang has been recognised as a Vietnam Heritage Tree.

The recognition ceremony was held by theVietnam Association of Nature and Environment on December 10 as part ofactivities to celebrate the 70th founding anniversary of the VietnamPeople’s Army (VPA) (December 22, 1944-2014).

The tree, 1.97m indiameter and 40m in height, witnessed the ups and downs of the heroicland of Tam Kim as well as the formation and revolutionaryactivities of the VPA’s predecessor – the Vietnam Armed Propaganda Unitfor National Liberation.

The recognition is of importantsignificance for the protection of the natural landscape and ecologicalenvironment in this historical forest.

So far, seven old trees in Cao Bang has received the Vietnam Heritage Tree title.-VNA

From Berlin, the Vietnamese guitar fosters cultural connections to global community

This year, 30 contestants from 15 countries entered the competition, with five finalists set to compete on October 10 at Ballhaus Prinzenallee in Berlin. The programme also includes a gala concert, masterclasses and a guitar exhibition. Long’s compositions have been selected as compulsory pieces, introducing international musicians to Vietnamese music.

Hanoi launches project to build cultural industry hub in Old Quarter

The project, covering about 3,862sqm. at 17 Nguyen Thien Thuat and 40 Thanh Ha, includes around 2,317sqm. of construction area. It will renovate existing structures, improve architecture and landscaping, upgrade technical infrastructure and create spaces for cultural, artistic and creative activities.

Over 2,000 people to perform Thai Xoe dance in Lao Cai in October
