Despite the various improvements in the promotion of gender quality and women empowerment, much still remains for Vietnam to do to ease gender prejudice and enhance public awareness on women’s role, according to experts.

The Vietnamese Government has made a great success in advancing gender equality, and the UN Women has accompanied the Government in the work, Elisa Fernandez Saenz, Country Representative of UN Women in Vietnam, has said.

More than 80 experts from governmental agencies, domestic and international organizations, and academia attended “The launching workshop on the review of the National Strategy on Gender Equality and the development of the new National Strategy on Gender Equality 2021-2030” in Hanoi on December 6.

A dialogue on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) between young people, the Government and partners took place in Hanoi on November 22.

Vietnam always pledges to promote gender equality and ensure rights of women and girls, said Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Trong Dam.

A regional workshop is being held in Ho Chi Minh City from November 19-20 on boosting regional cooperation to ensure gender equality in the workplace.
