“Charming Vietnam” beauty pageant launched

Vietnamese girls will have a chance to show off their beauty, intelligence and talent at the “Charming Vietnam” pageant which starts this month.

The contest was launched at a ceremony in Hanoi on July 15 by the Vietnam Youth Federation and Vietnam Students’ Association Central Committees.

According to the organising board, candidates must be unmarried female students aged 18 to 24 and at least 1.6 metres tall to enter.

They will be judged on their talents in culture, arts, painting, music, dance, cuisine, sewing and martial arts.
 
The qualifying round will take place in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen city in the northern province of the same name, the central city of Da Nang, Buon Me Thuot city in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, Nha Trang city in the central province of Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, and the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.
 
The semi-finals will be held in Hanoi in the north, Da Nang in the central region and Ho Chi Minh City in the south, while the final round will be held in Ho Chi Minh City.

The final night during which awards will be granted is scheduled for November 17 in HCM City.

The winner will receive a cash prize of 200 million VND while the two runners-up will get 100 million VND and 50 million VND respectively.

The three will join a programme to visit Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago launched by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee in 2014.

Candidates can summit their dossiers from July 20 until August 28 at Thanh Giong Intellectual Gate, 64 Ba Trieu, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi.-VNA
