Hanoi (VNA) - China and Thailand have pledged to cooperate in their joint fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
The commitment was reached during talks between Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai ahead of a special China-ASEAN foreign ministers' meeting on COVID-19 on February 20.
Wang said since the outbreak of the epidemic, the Thai Royal Family, government and society have extended a helping hand to China, reflecting the friendship between the people of the two countries.
He added that China appreciated the reasonable and appropriate measures taken by Thailand in dealing with the outbreak suggested by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Pramudwinai, for his part, expressed his belief that the February 20 meeting will help cement solidarity and cooperation between ASEAN and China, and contribute to the cause of regional and global public health./.
