The third session of the 11 th National People’s Congress (NPC), China ’s top legislature, closed in Beijing on March 14 under the chairmanship of NPC Standing Committee Chairman Wu Bangguo.
President Hu Jintao, C hairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Jia Qinglin, Premier Wen Jiabao and other top Chinese leaders attended the closing meeting.
NPC deputies approved the work reports of the NPC Standing Committee, the government, the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Electoral Law as well as the report on the implementation of the budget for 2009 and draft budget for 2010.
Addressing the closing meeting, Chairman Wu Bangguo said that NPC deputies put forward more than 7,400 proposals at the session, many of which focusing on how to promote the change in the mode of economic development, one of the government’s key tasks this year./.
