Lieut. Gen. Le Hien Van, deputy chief of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), hosted a reception in Hanoi on April 22 for a delegation of Chinese war veterans and relatives of fallen soldiers who had assisted Vietnam during its resistance war against the US.

During Vietnam’s struggles for national independence and reunification, China provided significant support in the form of weapons, logistics, technical assistance, and personnel. Today, many Chinese veterans and experts, who once aided Vietnam’s revolution, now in their sixties, continue to quietly nurture the bilateral friendship.
