Collection of ancient coins discovered in Bac Kan

Local people and workers accidentally discovered a jar containing ancient coins at Nam Cat Reservoir construction site in the northern Bac Kan province.
Local people and workers accidentally discovered a jar containingancient coins at Nam Cat Reservoir construction site in the northern BacKan province.

On receiving the news, researchers from theprovincial museum investigated the area and collected 14kg of coins,which are estimated to have been buried at the end of the 18th century.

The coins are from Vietnam, China and Japan.

Scientistssaid the discovery proved the existence of well-developed traderelations between the locality and other regions in the second half ofthe 18th century.-VNA

In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Thai Van Thanh noted that over 45 years, the event evolved from “Songs from Sen Village” and the “Sen Village Singing Festival” into the Sen Village Festival in 2002.
