Two leading singers from Israel and Vietnam, David D’or and Thanh lam, will perform at the Hanoi Opera House on April 11 to celebrate 20 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the 65th anniversary of Israel’s Independence Day.
They will perform with the Hanoi Symphony Orchestra from the Vietnam National Academy of Music and David Eaton - conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of New York.
The concert is considered the biggest event in the series of activities to celebrate the 20th year of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Israel.
The Israel Embassy has organised a number of cultural event this year, including Holocaust Day, a gastronomy cultural exchange between Vietnam and Israel, and a logo design contest.
According to Minister of the Science and Technology Nguyen Quan, the activities organised by the embassy are “significant” and will contribute to enhancing friendship and understanding between the two peoples.
David D’or is known as a singer, composer and songwriter. A counter-tenor with a vocal range of more than four octaves, he is a three-time winner of the Israeli Singer of the Year and Best Vocal Performer awards. He was also chosen to represent Israel in the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest.
American conductor David Eaton has been the music director of the New York City Symphony since 1983. He has also been an active composer and arranger, with 49 original compositions and over 600 arrangements and original songs to his credit. He has appeared as a guest conductor with orchestras in Asia, Canada, Israel, Europe, Central and South America, Russia, Ukraine and the US.-VNA
