Concert honours Beethoven's birthday

A special concert gathering singers and artists from six countries and territories in North East Asia will raise its curtain on December 26 and 27 at the Hanoi Opera House.

The artists performing at theconcert will include soprano Ha Pham Thang Long from Vietnam , altoSoo Yun-chung from the Republic of Korea (RoK), tenor Claude Linfrom Taiwan and bass Zhong Hao from China .

Under thebaton of Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji, the artists, accompanied bythe musicians of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, will presentthe masterpiece Symphony No.9 by great composer Ludwig van Beethoven.

The Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Choir, the Hanoi FreudeChoir and Ashikaga City Philharmonic Chorus from Tochigi Prefecturein Japan will also perform at the concert.

Intended to markthe 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birthday in 2020, the concert ispart of a cultural exchange programme between countries and territoriesin the region, including Vietnam , Japan , the RoK, the DemocraticPeople’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), Taiwan and mainland China .

It is scheduled to perform from 2013 to 2020 with Vietnam as the first destination.

Alto singer Han Okhee from the DPRK has also been invited to join the concert but will be absent due to health problem.

Titled Beethoven 9th, the concert will start at 8pm at the Hanoi Opera.-VNA

National Radio Festival opens in Quang Ninh

Vietnamese puppetry seeks renewal amid preservation challenges

People’s Artist Nguyen Hoang Tuan, Chairman of the Hanoi Theatre Association, noted that while northern Vietnam had 27 puppetry guilds in 1986, only 14 remain today. Many traditional plays and original scripts have been lost, hurting restoration and preservation efforts.

Project on digital transformation in cultural sector approved

By 2030, the project targets the establishment of shared digital platforms across 100% of cultural sectors. All digitised cultural heritage will be standardised under the national data framework and shared in accordance with regulations, while 80% of public digital heritage assets are expected to receive digital identifiers to clarify ownership and management, encouraging organisations and individuals to do the same and support market development.
