The Goethe-Institut Hanoi hosts a concert on November 10 featuring the music of Richard Wagner, Franz Liszt and Richard Strauss. The event celebrates the 200th birthday of Richard Wagner.
Next to his composition of great musical dramas, such as Parzifal, Tristan and Isolde and The Ring of the Nibelung, Wagner (1813-83) also composed songs. His Wesendonck songs are an exciting connection to the works of two other great composers, Franz Liszt and Richard Strauss.
The works will be presented by Katharina Padrok (mezzo-soprano) and Boris Schonleber (piano).
Padrok studied violin at the conservatory in Hanover and her vocals at the University of Fine Arts Berlin.
Her solo repertoire contains a variety of song programmes, contemporary music and tango songs from Astor Piazolla, which she has adapted in a fascinating manner.
A freelance pianist in Berlin , Schonleber studied with Alexander Malter and visited master classes with many pianists. He is a piano soloist, vocal accompanist and chamber musician in Berlin.
Both artists have arranged a master class for vocalists at the National Academy of Music from November 11-15.).-VNA
