Overview of the conference (Photo: http://quochoi.vn) Hanoi (VNA) – A conference was held in Hanoi onApril 25 to discuss the development of cultural industries in Vietnam, aimingto clarify the definition of cultural industries and creative spaces, and openup opportunities for dialogue between creative hubs and policy makers.
Koen Duchateau, head of the Development and CooperationDepartment under the EU Delegation to Vietnam, said the agency considerscultural development as the core of cooperation with countries around theworld.
In Vietnam, culture is developing strongly with the engagementof many youngsters, he noted, saying that encouraging creative hubs to give newideas helps contribute to Vietnam’s development.
The EU and the British Council have funded a project ofcreative cultural space in Vietnam in 2018-2021, he noted.
The project has proposed activities focusing on developing anetwork of creative cultural and art spaces to connect artists and creatorswith their audiences, he said.
According to Assistant Prof. Dr. Bui Hoai Son, it isnecessary to raise the awareness of the role of creative spaces in Hanoi’sdevelopment,using them to motivate the city’s growth.
Le QuocVinh, a communications expert, said that in recentyears, the Government has created favourable conditions for creative spaces,with the opening of more support centres and easier licence issuing procedures forperforming activities.
Vinh said that to optimise their potential, creative hubsneed the assistance of the State via preferential tax rates, support inoperational venues and licence granting policies.-VNA
