Construction on Duyen Hai seaport begins

Vietnam Electricity began construction on a seaport for the Duyen Hai Electricity Centre in the southern province of Tra Vinh on April 21.

The port is part of a master plan for the powercomplex in Dan Thanh commune, Duyen Hai district. It aims to handle 12million tonnes of coal and 100,000 tonnes of oil per year for thecentre’s three thermal power plants.

The port willcover more than 427 hectares of water, and include two coal terminalsfor 30,000-tonne ships, one oil terminal for 1,000-tonne ships, a 3.9kmbulkhead, and a loading/unloading coal system together with electricity,water and communication facilities.

The port isbeing built by China Communications Construction Company Ltd. with atotal investment of over 5.8 trillion VND (about 280 million USD) and isscheduled to be completed in 32 months.-VNA
