China’s actions in the East Sea are totally wrongful, assertedRivislei Gonzales Saez, an expert from the Cuban Centre forInternational Policy Research.
In a recentarticle, Saez said that China ’s illegal placement of its drilling rigHaiyang Shiyou-981 in Vietnam ’s exclusive economic zone andcontinental shelf escalated tension in the region.
Earlier, China originated disputes with the Philippines over sea andislands, and shocked the Republic of Korea and Japan byunilaterally claiming the Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) in theEast China Sea , he noted.
Saez underscored thatChina proposed peaceful ways to settle disputes, yet, it has undertakenactions that go against its words, which raised serious concern forparties concerned and other regional countries, including the US .
In fact, what China has done to its neighboursgenerated concern, tension and insecurity to them and put them into astate of vigilance, leading to their stronger struggles, he said.
Saez held that the tension China has caused to Vietnam is a big mistake, bringing no benefit to Beijing.
More negatively, China has launched an aggressive propaganda campaign through its media to attack Vietnam, he said.
According Saez, although the world is flooded with information, thetruth will always prevail. Furthermore, everyday, there are thousands ofintellectuals, diplomats, and people who understand the truth and raisetheir voice in favour of Vietnam, he added.
It is not only a problem for Vietnam or Southeast Asia any more,but one that the whole world should watch, the expert concluded.-VNA
