The number of visitors to Cuba in 2011 is expected to increase 10 percent over last year and revenue from tourism may increase 29 percent, according to Deputy Tourism Minister Alexis Trujillo.
In 2010, despite many difficulties, Cuba attracted 2.5 million foreign arrivals, a 2.9 percent increase over 2009, earning more than 2.22 billion USD and or year-on-year rise of 5.5 percent.
Alexis Trujillo also said that average spending of a foreign visitor to Cuba increased from 96 USD to 102 USD in 2009 in 2010.
Canada continued taking the lead in the number of visitors to Cuba with 941,000 people, an increase of 2.9 percent over 2009.
