An art and cultural exchange festival of provinces along the Vietnam–Cambodia border opened in the southwestern province of An Giang on December 7.
The festival was jointly held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the provincial People’s Committee on the occasion of the 45 th anniversary of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic ties.
The event attracted the participation of various boundary provinces from both countries, including An Giang, Dong Thap, Kien Giang of Vietnam, and Kandal, Takeo, Kampot and Preyveng of Cambodia.
Various cultural and art activities such as traditional music, dances and costume performances, as well as customary festival and wedding practices from each province were performed by 350 artists from both countries.
The activities symbolised the traditional friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia in the past and in the time to come.
The same day, a photography exhibition that showcased the friendship and cultural characteristics of Vietnam-Cambodia border areas took place.
The display of 220 photos depicted the diplomatic activities of Party and Government leaders from both countries, as well as landscapes and portraits, and the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
The exhibition presented the cultural identities of ethnic minorities along the Vietnam-Cambodia border.
Images of provinces’ socio-economic development were also on display.
Open until December 9, the exhibition reflects friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia, and their boundary provinces, contributing to boosting their cooperation in various fields including border security, trade, tourism, agriculture, healthcare and education./.VNA
