Da Nang launches Quan The Am festival

An annual Quan The Am (Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva) festival was opened at Ngu Hanh Son (the Marble Mountains), a popular tourist destination in central Da Nang city, on the night of April 5.

The three-day festival, one of Vietnam’s fifteen major ritual events,aims to pray for a year of national peace, prosperity and happiness.

A prayer ceremony, a zen-tea exhibition, a candle-lit flower release,boat races, traditional folk games and martial art performances will befeatured at this fest.

This year, Quan The Ampagoda, the host of the event, invited a Thai troupe to take part in thefestival showcasing their art performances.

QuanThe Am festival not only helps preserve and uphold national culturalvalues, but also promotes the beauty of local custom and landscapes.-VNA
