At the seminar (Photo: baochinhphu.vn) Da Nang (VNA) – The central city of Da Nangconsiders Thailand a promising market with experienced partners in the fields where it is calling for investment, heard an internationalseminar on trade – investment – tourism connectivity between Da Nang andThailand held on December 14.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’sCommittee Tran Phuoc Son said friendly and cooperative relations between Da Nang and Thai partners have beengrowing fruitly, especially in trade, tourism, education-training and culturalexchange, on the back of the city’s favourable geographical location and moderninfrastructure.
According to the Da Nang Investment Promotion Agency, the central city is now home to nearly 20 firms directly engaged in trade and business with Thailand.Two-way trade reached nearly 45 million USD a year during2018-2020. In ASEAN, Thailand is the second biggest trade partner of the city.
Once the COVID-19 pandemic is controlled, Thailand willremain a key tourism market of Da Nang, focusing on MICE, resort and golf tourism.
Thai Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City ApiratSugondhabhirom described the East – West Economic Corridor as a strategic routelinking Da Nang with Thailand via Laos.
In the “new normal”, he suggested that Thailand and Vietnam,together with eight ASEAN member states and outside partners, should work closelytogether to effectively cope with COVID-19 and its impacts, byimplementing the bloc’s pandemic response initiatives, as well as restoringsupply chains and seeking new opportunities from the fourth industrialrevolution./.
