Depicting Vietnamese culture on 3D paper lamps

The “Vietnam, the land and the people” collection, which includes 17 artworks from young artist Nguyen Duy Duy, features Vietnamese culture, from the traditional “ao dai” to the Central Highlands’ gong culture, water puppetry, and Hue royal court music, all vividly depicted by the magic light of 3D lamps.

After graduating in graphic design from the Hanoi Vocational College of High Technology, Nguyen Duy Duy used the idea from his graduation project, and created a 3D paper lamp with the theme “Vietnamese history, country, and people”. (Photo: VNA)

Duy said that creating a paper lamp involves at least five stages: brainstorming design ideas; separating paper layers; dividing the initial sketch into layers of front and back, and light and dark; cutting and engraving; and assembling and reinforcing the frame. (Photo: VNA)
