Disbursement of transport projects exceeds target

According to the Planning and Investment Department at the Ministry of Transport, it is estimated that, as of the end of May, the Ministry had disbursed approximately 777 million USD, or about 33% of the annual plan and more than in the same period last year.

Many transport projects are ahead of their disbursement schedules, prompting investors to seek additional funds for the remainder of the year.

The Ministry of Transport has reallocated capital twice since the beginning of 2024, to ensure sufficient funding for project execution.

It has also mandated that project owners develop detailed disbursement plans for each project. The Ministry has been firm in dealing with project owners and contractors that fail to meet capacity requirements and therefore affect progress./.
