The southern province of Dong Nai gained 841 million USD from exports in February, a drop of 3 percent from the previous month, according to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade.

The department attributed the fall to the long Lunar New Year holiday, causing a temporary halt in the operation of exporting companies.

Despite that fact, the total export turnover in the first two months saw a yearly increase of 12.7 percent to 1.872 trillion USD.

Director of the department Le Van Danh said in 2014, Dong Nai targets a rise of 10-12 percent in exports from 2013, adding that to realise the goal, it will step up trade and investment promotion in such markets as Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, Germany, Myanmar and China.

Particularly, to prepare for the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement (TPP), which is expected to be signed this year, Dong Nai will further popularise TPP and free trade agreements in which Vietnam is a partner to the business circle, he added.

The province’s staple exports in 2014 include garment and textiles, footwear, wood products, and farm produce.-VNA
