Hanoi (VNA) – Democratic People’s Republic of Korealeader Kim Jong-un said he had an interesting conversation with US PresidentDonald Trump which came before their dinner at Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoihotel on February 27.

Earlier, the leader lauded the US President for having abrave decision to initiate the US-DPRK summit, adding that he has striven andbeen patient more than ever to make the summit happen.

Kim expressed his wish for a declaration ending the Korean Warto be issued and said that in exchange for this, he will shut down the Yongbyonnuclear complex.

According to experts, a declaration on ending the war willbe the first significant step towards replacing the war-ending agreement with apeace agreement.

For his part, President Trump said a press conference willbe held on February 28 following their summit, a day which he said will be verybusy with discussions on a number of issues.

Following their first summit in June 2018 in Singapore, thesecond is expected to devise specific measures towards denuclearisation, thusmaintaining everlasting peace on the Korean Peninsula and the region.-VNA

Death toll from Philippines earthquake rises, tsunami reaches Indonesia, Japan

In the hard-hit port city of General Santos, disaster management officials confirmed seven deaths after several buildings collapsed and key infrastructure was damaged. At least 12 killed, hundreds injured in Philippines earthquake

The port city of General Santos suffered the heaviest damage, with disaster management officials confirming seven fatalities and about 130 injuries after several small buildings collapsed and multiple structures, including a key bridge, sustained severe cracks. The remaining five deaths were recorded in South Cotabato, Davao Occidental and Balut Island.
