At least 41 people died and more than 20 were injured in a 6.0-magnitude earthquake that hit Elazig province in eastern Turkey on March 8, reported the Xinhua news agency.
According to a report from the Istanbul-based Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute of Bogazici University of Turkey, the powerful quake struck the Basyurt region of Elazig’s Karakocan town at 4:32 a.m local time (0232 GMT) at a depth of 5 km.
The whole area then continued to be affected by the quake’s aftershocks.
Rescue teams have been rushing the earthquake-rocked areas.
