Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – The East Asia Summit (EAS) commenced in Malaysia’s capital city of Kuala Lumpur on the afternoon of November 22.
Eighteen Asia-Pacific state leaders attended the summit to discuss regional and global issues.
The EAS is the annual talks between the 10 ASEAN countries, Russia, the US and six bloc partners – China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, Australia and New Zealand.
Initiated in 2005, the event has been a forum on broad strategic topics related to the region. It also features discussions on global issues, such as the fight against terrorism, energy, sustainable development, diseases, and poverty reduction.-VNA
