A folk music performance staged by dancers and musicians from the Egyptian National Folk Dance Troupe marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Egypt in Hanoi on January 23.
The event was to help connect people of the two countries, as well as to demonstrate Egypt’s readiness to serve tourists from across the globe, said Egyptian Ambassador to Vietnam Mohamed Reda Kamel El-Taify.
The performance, co-organised by the Egyptian Embassy in Vietnam and the Tokyo-based Egypt Tourism office, saw the attendance of Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Phuong Nga, among others.
Starting with 56 male dancers and only one female dancer in 1960, the Egyptian National Folk Dance Troupe now boasts 45 male and 35 female dancers.
During its 54 years of existence, it has given performances in about 105 countries and territories across the world.
