An exhibition on the cultural identity of Australia’s indigenous people kicked off on May 24 in Ho Chi Minh City as part of activities to mark the 40th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Australia.
The event introduces 21 paintings made of a variety of materials. The works demonstrate the contemplation and viewpoints of 11 Aboriginal artists over the last 25 years, providing an overview of a journey in which Australian collectives and individuals seek ways to support the rights of indigenous people and cultural expression.
Attending the exhibition, Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives Anna Burke, who is on an official visit to Vietnam, said that the exhibition depicts the outstanding work of indigenous Australians.
The exhibition has toured the world over the past two years, receiving a warm response from international spectators. The 21 paintings will be on display at the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum until mid June this year.-VNA
