Historical maps and documents affirming Vietnam’s sacred and inviolable sovereignty over Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelagoes are on display at an exhibition, which kicked off in the central province of Binh Dinh on April 26.
The event, which will open through May 5, is held by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to mark the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975-April 30, 2013) as well as May Day.
The exhibits include 16 maps of Vietnam’s dynasties, copies of such historical documents as administrative records of the Nguyen Dynasty including reports on the operations of Vietnam’s flotillas at the two archipelagoes.
More than 100 photos featuring Hoang Sa and Truong Sa before and after 1975 are also introduced at the exhibition.
Also on this occasion, the central province of Thua Thien Hue hosted an exhibition of 60 photos and articles reflecting the lives of people and soldiers in Truong Sa island district.
Three veterans, who used to be stationed in Truong Sa, were invited to the event to tell visitors about their work and life in the archipelago.
After the exhibition, these photos and documents were presented to a school in Phu Vang district to serve as materials for extracurricular programmes.-VNA
