Exhilaration and anticipation in the Spring procession of Moc Village festival

The Moc Village festival, also known as the kết chạ festival, celebrates the unity, mutual support, and brotherhood among the ancient Moc villages, while also honoring the village elders and historical figures who contributed to the nation's protection.

In the heart of Hanoi, for those seeking the vibrant experience of a rural village procession, the Moc Village festival in Thanh Xuan District and the southern part of Nam Tu Liem District will be a fascinating choice.

The Moc Village festival, also known as the kết chạ festival, celebrates the unity, mutual support, and brotherhood among the ancient Moc villages, while also honoring the village elders and historical figures who contributed to the nation's protection.

Held only once every five years, from the 10th to the 12th of the lunar month, the kết chạ festival boasts a grand scale, bringing together the four remaining Moc villages along the Tô Lịch River (formerly five, as two villages have merged).

These villages are Moc Giap Nhat, Moc Quan Nhan, Moc Cu Chinh, and Moc Phung Khoang.

Among them, Moc Quan Nhan is the only village that parades two palanquins, one for the village's patron saint and one for the saint's consort (wife).

Many locals have taken a day off from work to fully immerse themselves in the lively atmosphere of the procession from early morning./.
