Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) reported that relevant agencies have solutions to several issues at the Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of famous bazaars in Thailand, and expressed its confidence that the market will continue to attract both Thai and foreign visitors under its management.

Vendors at the Chatuchak Weekend Market previously petitioned the government to solve the problem of higher rental fees.

The BMA has been assigned to manage the market, under the guidance of the steering committee on national security, poverty reduction, and environment chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan.

Bangkok Governor Pol. Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang said that the BMA has improved the market’s landscape to attract visitors. He said the monthly rental fees for each booth space have also been reduced from 3,157 THB to 1,800 THB.

Currently, there are more than 9,000 booths selling a variety of products and services at the Chatuchak Weekend Market, which covers more than 60 rai (24 acres) of land. It can attract up to 200,000 tourists per day.-NNT/VNA
