Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) reported thatrelevant agencies have solutions to several issues at the Chatuchak WeekendMarket, one of famous bazaars in Thailand, and expressed its confidence thatthe market will continue to attract both Thai and foreign visitors under itsmanagement.
Vendors at the ChatuchakWeekend Market previously petitioned the government to solve the problem ofhigher rental fees.
The BMA has beenassigned to manage the market, under the guidance of the steering committee onnational security, poverty reduction, and environment chaired by the DeputyPrime Minister and Defence Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan.
Bangkok Governor Pol.Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang said that the BMA has improved the market’s landscape toattract visitors. He said the monthly rental fees for each booth space havealso been reduced from 3,157 THB to 1,800 THB.
Currently, there aremore than 9,000 booths selling a variety of products and services at the ChatuchakWeekend Market, which covers more than 60 rai (24 acres) of land. It canattract up to 200,000 tourists per day.-NNT/VNA
