Female weightlifter wins gold medal at Asian Para Games 2018

Jakarta (VNA) – Vietnamese para weightlifter Dang Thi Linh Phuong won a gold medal at thewomen’s 50kg event during the Asian Para Games in Indonesia on October 8.

By successfullylifting 103kgs, Phuong left her Indonesian runner-up Khatun Sakina far behind.

In 2016 at the Rio Paralympics,Phuong became the first Vietnamese para athlete to bring home a gold medal atthe international event.

Her next target is tobag another gold medal at the 2020 Paralympics before leaving her career as aweightlifter.

As of 6:45pm ofOctober 8, the Vietnamese delegation had won four gold, one silver, and fivebronze medals, ranking sixth in the medal tally.

At the previousAsian Para Games in 2014, Vietnam won nine gold, seven silver, and 13 bronzemedals, finishing 10th in the overall medal tally. –VNA
