“Adrift” (Choi voi) by director Bui Thac Chuyen kicked off days of Vietnamese film screening in Washington on Oct. 1 as one of celebrations for the millennial anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.
Organised by the Embassy of Vietnam in the US , in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution, the event will also feature “Little Girl of Hanoi” by Hai Ninh and “Guava Season” by Dang Nhat Minh.
In March, “Adrift” was one of the ten award-winning narrative feature films selected for screening during the Global Lens Film Series by the Global Film Initiative.
The Vietnamese Ambassador to the US , Le Cong Phung, is planning to host a banquet on Oct. 15, while pianist Nguyen Thuy Quynh will have a performance in November to welcome the capital city’s 1,000 th birthday./.
