Fire razes 167 houses in Myanmar town

A blaze burned to the ground 167 houses in Pyapon town in western Myanmar on January 4, rendered about 600 locals homeless, reported the Global New Light of Myanmar.

Hanoi (VNA) – A blaze burned to the ground 167 houses in Pyapon town in western Myanmar on January 4, rendered about 600 locals homeless, reported the Global New Light of Myanmar.

The fire began at a bamboo house in the local Chaungwa village, then spreading to nearby houses. It ended up razing nine cement and 25 wooden houses, and 133 small wooden huts.

The cause of the incident remains unknown. However local police has sued the bamboo house owner for negligence of fire safety.

Local authorities said victims of the fire are temporarily staying at a shelter in a monastery of the village.-VNA
