A model of green school was launched in Luong The Vinh Primary School in Ho Chi Minh City on February 4, as part the city’s effort to raise students’ awareness of energy saving.
The model applies LED lighting technology and uses solar-powered cell system connecting with 2kWp electricity network to equipment such as electric fans, air conditioners, refrigerators and TVs.
According to Huynh Kim Tuoc, Director of the Energy Saving Centre under the municipal Department of Sciences and Technology, this is Vietnam’s first green school model that has been applied the environmentally-friendly technology.
According to the centre’s statistics, households and schools use 40 percent of the total of energy consumption in the city.
