The Quang Ninh Port Ltd. Co. welcomed the New Year with its first shipments of 30,000 tonnes of ore and 20,000 tonnes of chip at the Cai Lan port in the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh on Jan. 1.
Also on Jan. 1, the Cam Pha Port and Logistics Company and the Cua Ong Coal Sorting Company shipped its first batch of 15,400 tonnes of 9A coal dust to its Japanese customer Sumitomo at Quang Ninh province’s Cam Pha port.
Meanwhile, General Director of the Sai Gon port Le Cong Minh issued an order to load the first tonnes of cargo on the New Year.
The Sai Gon port plans to put into operation new ports in Hiep Phuoc ( HCM City ) and Cai Mep-Thi Vai (the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau ) and operate the Sai Gon port in the holding company model.
In 2009, the Sai Gon port handled more than 14 million tonnes of cargo, a year-on-year rise of 7 percent and achieved a turnover of more than 1 trillion VND./.
