The southwest region is an alluvial delta that used to be a desolate, low-lying area with many marshes, intertwined canals, dense rivers, and alluvium caused by the Mekong River. Therefore the region is home to abundant crops.
This natural characteristic has formed the water culture in the region. For generations, people in the region have attached their lives to rivers and waters.
