Throngs of tourists have visited the 2nd Chiang Rai ASEAN Flowers Festival in the northern province of Chiang Rai to see beautiful winter flowers amid cold weather.
Held from December 20, 2013 to January 5, 2014, the festival takes place at Suan Mai Ngam on the banks of Kok River in Mueang district. The festival showcases more than a hundred thousand winter flowers on an area larger than 20 Rai. Over 10,000 visitors on average join in the event each day to enjoy the flowers and take pictures.
Highlights of the festival include rare flowers such as tulips, a rare type of dahlia, short stemmed lilies and a colorful gigantic clock decorated with various flowers.-VNA
