Almost 200 foreign racers from 29 Hanoi-based embassies and international organisations will participate in the Hanoi Moi (New Hanoi) newspaper’s annual run.
At a press briefing on October 1, the organising board said this year’s event which will get started on October 6 at the capital’s Hoan Kiem Lake is expected to attract 1,200 competitors living in the city.
The 40th Run for Peace is one of the activities to celebrate the 59th anniversary of Hanoi Liberation Day (October 10), and mark the 14th anniversary of Hanoi’s UNESCO City for Peace and the 56th anniversary of the newspaper.
Preliminary races have been organised in communes, wards and residential areas since June.
Last year's event attracted nearly 1,200 runners. It is one of many events aimed at promoting sports among local people.-VNA
