Foreigners teaching English in Vietnam required to get training certificates

The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued a decision promulgating a training and certificate granting programme for foreigners teaching English language at foreign language and information technology centres in Vietnam.

Hanoi (VNA) - The Ministry of Education and Training has justissued a decision promulgating a training and certificate granting programmefor foreigners teaching English language at foreign language and informationtechnology centres in Vietnam.

This programme aims to train and issueEnglish teaching certificates to foreigners, including native speakers (Englishlanguage) with a college degree or higher, foreigners with a college degree inEnglish language or higher, foreigners with a college degree or higher and aforeign language proficiency certificate of level 5 or higher in accordancewith Vietnam’s 6-level foreign language competency framework or equivalent.

It also helps trainees develop English teaching skills effectively and flexibly,and in accordance with the culture and context of Vietnam, thus meetingtraining and training certificate granting needs, and contributing to ensuring thequality of English teaching at foreign language centres, and foreign language andinformation technology centres.

After completing the training programme,trainees need to meet the English teaching competency requirements at thesecentres through applying knowledge, methods and approaches in teaching Englishlanguage; and analysing, evaluating, and adjusting contents and methods to suitlearners, culture, and the context of teaching and learning English language inVietnam.

The training programme includes 10 topics onknowledge, methods and skills and one internship period with a duration of 160lessons (45 minutes each)./.
