Da Nang (VNS/VNA) - Residents in the central city of Da Nang are beingtreated to a series of concerts by a quartet from the Japan PhilharmonicOrchestra.

The concerts are organised to celebrate the 45th anniversary of theestablishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.

The quartet includes violinists Masakazu Saito, Shunichiro Saito, and KumikoNakagawa, and cellist Tetsuya Osawa.

The first concert held on June 26 night featured well-known symphonies such asCanon (Johann Pachelbel), Divertimento (Mozart), Four Seasons: Spring(Vivaldi), and Diem Xua (Old Flame) by the renowned Vietnamese composer Trinh CongSon.

The artists delighted the children with their orchestra performance in the citylibrary. The quartet also performed for patients and doctors at the Da NangTumour Hospital on June 27.

The concluding concert will be held at the U Cafe in the ancient town of HoiAn. A street music show will also be performed for locals at Chua Cau, Hội An.

All concerts are open to the public.

The Tokyo-based Japan Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1956. It is well-knownnot only for its exquisite performances but also for its contribution inpushing for cultural development through arts education.

Before their first performance in Vietnam in June, JPO performed with renownedVietnamese pianist Dang Thai Son in a concert held April 18 in Japan.

The non-profit concert has been endorsed by the Japanese Embassy, the Da NangUnion of Friendship Organisations, and the Japan Business Association in DaNang.-VNS/VNA
