French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault and his wife is scheduled to make a two-day official visit to Malaysia , beginning on July 28.
The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in its statement issued on July 26 said the visit will be part of his three-nation regional tour which includes the Republic of Caledonia and the Republic of Korea, aimed at enhancing existing areas of cooperation and broadening into new spheres of cooperation.
As scheduled, PM Ayrault will have a restricted meeting with his Malaysian counterpart Najib Tun Razak, followed by a bilateral delegation meeting to discuss bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.
The statement said Ayrault’s visit to Malaysia will serve as a reaffirmation of the French government's commitment under the administration of President Francois Hollande to strengthen political ties between the two countries.
PM Ayrault is also scheduled to visit the Sendayan Techvalley located in Bandar Sri Sendayan, Negeri Sembilan, where he will officiate a ground-breaking ceremony to launch a French investment project worth 125 million USD.
He is also expected to address a Malaysia-France Economic Forum organised by the French embassy, here, in collaboration with the Malaysian-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
This is the first Malaysia visit by a French Prime Minister after more than 30 years. The last official visit by a French PM to Malaysia was by Pierre Mauroy in December 1982.-VNA
