Futsal team goes down in Thailand

The Vietnam national futsal team finished fourth at the Asian qualifiers after losing 3-4 to Australia in Thailand on Feb. 26.

Inthe 35th minute of the second half, Australia took the lead with fourgoals. With nothing to lose, Vietnam increased its attack to score threegoals thanks to Quynh Toan and Trong Thien.

After thistournament, the Vietnamese will compete in the Southeast Asian FutsalChampionships from April 17-22 in Thailand against Malaysia, Cambodia,the Philippines and Myanmar in Group A.-VNA

The standout achievement came in the Sanda (combat) events, where Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hien claimed gold medals after impressive victories over opponents from China and Hong Kong (China), respectively. Thu Thuy edged out Zhang Xiaoyu in the 60kg category with a 2-1 win, while Ngoc Hien dominated her 56kg bout 2-0.
