HCM City (VNA) –  The Ministry of Information andTelecommunications, in collaboration with the BKAV Technology Group, willorganise WhiteHat Drill 05, a network safety rehearsal, on May 9 to tackle thecoin-miner virus.

All companies and other organisations around thecountry can register to take part in the rehearsal for freeat WhiteHat.vn/DangKy.

“The enormous profits from cryptocurrencies is thereason for hackers to circulate the coin-miner virus,” Ngo Tuan Anh, deputychairman in charge of security at BKAV Technology Group, said.

“The situation will worsen in the coming time.”

The rehearsal will include various simulatedsituations in which networks are infected by the coin-miner virus through theSMB gap.

Teams in the rehearsal must isolate the virus,stop its spread, analyse it to know the origin of the attack, identify exactlywhich gap has been penetrated, and fix it to avoid further attacks.

The coin-mining virus is becoming increasinglyprevalent, with attacks through various gaps to spread it being identified,including in websites, software and social networks.

In March 139,000 computers in Vietnam wereinfected by the virus after spreading through online advertisement serviceAdf.ly to take control of victims’ computers for coin mining.

The virus can infect other computers in a networkthrough the SMB gap. The SMB gap had been exploited by the WannaCry virus whichinfected 300,000 computers around the world within a few hours last year.

According to BKAV, half of all Vietnamesecomputers have been infected by viruses through the SMB gap. –VNA

DNA testing capacity expanded to identify over 207,000 martyrs’ remains

By September 2026, Steering Committee 515 had collected samples from the remains of 207,656 martyrs, achieving 98.15% of the goal. Nearly 120,000 samples have been received and preserved. Additionally, authorities gathered 265,761 DNA samples from martyrs’ relatives, with about 100,000 analysed and around 80,000 results entered into the database.

In the central province of Quang Tri, an AI-powered “People’s Assistant” is being piloted from October 1 to 31 at the provincial Public Administration Service Centre and the centres of this kind in Dong Thuan and Dong Ha wards.
