Chess Grandmaster Le Quang Liem finished unsuccessfully at the Fujairah Masters Tournament which ended in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, on November 22.
The Vietnamese player defeated GM Sergey Fedorchuk of Ukraine in the final round. The win helped Liem, seeded second, improve his ranking from Tuesday's ninth to an overall sixth place with six points, while forcing Fedorchuk from top to fourth position.
GM Ganguly Surya Shekhar of India took the title and a bonus of 15,000 USD scoring 6.5 points, followed by GM Moiseenko Alexander of Ukraine and GM Sandipan Chanda, another Indian.
Chanda was one of the two masters who defeated Liem at the nine-round tournament. The other one was Ukrainian Andrey Sumets.-VNA
